Arts District Alliance Launches at Lot 613

On January 20th, 2015, Arts District Alliance launches its first exchange with China; specifically with four prolific world-class photographers from 798 in Beijing, Edward Chung, Liu DaDi, Guo Jijiang, and Tinly Wong and Arts District Artists, Tammy Holmgren, Miller Osceola Refetoff, Laura Velkei and Fred Hoerr will exhibit at Lot 613 from Tuesday January 20th – Sunday, January 25th.
The Arts District Alliance, a project of Arts District Community Council LA (ADCCLA), is based in the heart of the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District. Its mission is to create an annual exchange with international artists representing arts district’s worldwide. The focus of the exchange is to offer an opportunity to create dialogue, collaboration and discovery between artists and community members as well as create exposure for their artwork.
The world-class photographers from China who were already in town exhibiting at the LA Art Show from January 15th – January 18th, had also been selected to participate in the Arts District Alliance exchange the following week.
There is no mention on the groups website, if the Arts District Artists will be traveling to China as part of the exchange, but the four Chinese artists, a week-long artist in residence stay located within the arts district, an exhibition of their work, workshops, seminars, and meet and greets with LA artists, other cultural activities including visiting local museums, art galleries, a walking tour of the Arts District, collaboration with local artists, tasting local foods, and language exchange. Also Arts District Alliance will be hosting a panel discussion, a ceremony in their honor, and a documentary on the development of 798 in Beijing.
Opening night exhibition will be held at Premiere Events at LOT 613. 613 Imperial Street, Los Angeles, CA 90021 – 7pm.
